An Unlikely Victory

In Judges 6-8, we read about the judge Gideon. He was appointed to be the leader of Israel at the time to help them overcome their cycle:

The Cycle in the Book of Judges:

  1. Sin – The Israelites turn away from God and worship idols.

  2. Oppression – God allows enemy nations to oppress them as a consequence of their disobedience.

  3. Repentance – The Israelites cry out to God for deliverance.

  4. Deliverance – God raises up a judge (leader) to rescue them.

  5. Peace – The land experiences peace until the judge dies, and then the cycle starts over.

ICNU Conversations
An ICNU conversation ("I See in You" conversation) is a moment when someone calls out the potential in another person—often before they see it in themselves.

Five Takeaways:

  1. God Sees Beyond Our Weaknesses. (Judges 6:11-12)

  2. God Calls Us to Step Out in Faith. (Judges 6:14, 24-25, 34)

  3. God’s Power, Not Our Strength, Wins the Battle. (Judges 7:2)

  4. Obedience Leads to Victory. (Judges 7:8-8:21)

  5. Success can lead to spiritual drift. (Judges 8:22-35)
